Project Week and Outcome

The Albania Mapping Project's practical part took place in late August and it is time for a short summary on the outcomes...

With a steady group of 12 participants from Germany and Albania we spent 6 days in the city of Korca, from where we were exploring the surrounding Mountains. Four working groups were established and documenting possible hiking trails on four working days, with the total outcome of 16 trails with a lenght between appr. 8-20km

As proposed by locals and experts beforehand, our main orientation points for the tracking have been located in the villages of Voskopoja, Dardha, Vithkuq and Korca itself

The recorded tracks, taken pictures and written notes prove, that the area can be comfortably explored by people who are interested in nature friendly forms of tourism and keen on new hiking experiences.

After the planning and succesful practical part of our project, we are now in the middle of the third and last step of our project design: documentation

As mentioned in the post before, our tracks and notes already found their way to different hiking platforms / comunities on the internet. From here on, they are supposed to attract more attention for the scenic and welcoming Region of Korca.

Some deeper documentation steps and presentation are going to be worked on until the end of the year 2011, when we are about to close the Albania Mapping Project 2011.

So far, we want to thank everyone who was supporting us and the project until this point and look forward to deliver our data to everyone interested.

Jona, Felix, Kai and Jorn
